I keep getting :

Alert.length changed from 0 to 1

and

Alert.length is back to 0

#84

I got one today for air quality.

When the length is greater than zero, are there any nulls? That piston is supposed to send the alert (or null) whenever the length is 1 or more.

Edit:
If you are using this piston from above, then any time the length is greater than zero, there should be extra information inside that SMS. Such as:

temp

So I guess my question is, what is the extra information you see when length is 1 or more?

#86

I am not getting any alert.length other than 0 or 1

One of my latest

Alert.length is back to 0

#87

Dang. I am beginning to wonder if my location is bugged then. So far, in 30 days of testing on my end, my length has changed many times, yet not a single alert has come in. Either I am living in paradise, or something is fishy… (to be honest, the weather hasn’t really been worthy of an alert… I’m just wondering about all the nulls I have been seeing)

#88

Is there anything more that I can do to help?

#89

If you are willing to let that piston run a bit longer… I am especially interested if any nulls ever appear when length is 1 or more

#90

Can do.

#91

The Wiki has been updated.

Thanks everyone for the latest contributions!

#92

Good news! We finally have enough data gathered for $twcweather.alerts.significance to make sense of that dataPoint.

The new table can be found here

#93

Amazing @WCmore. Simply amazing

#94

Thanks @Koyfam. I appreciate that. Although, I couldn’t have done it without your help…
(I have not had a single alert since I started tracking a month ago)

#95

@WCmore, great work! Others here will surely benefit. Thanks.

#96

Hello!

Here are my gatherings from this past week:

$twcweather.alerts[0].eventDescription
“Severe Thunderstorm Watch”
“Special Weather Statement”
“Beach Hazard Statement”

$twcweather.alerts[0].headlineText
“Severe Thunderstorm Watch from SUN 3:25 PM EDT until SUN 10:00 PM EDT”
“Special Weather Statement until SUN 11:15 PM EDT”
“Beach Hazard Statement from SAT 10:00 AM EDT until SAT 10:00 PM EDT”

I decided to keep the [0], as I am also capturing the [1] separately. Do you want me to report them without the [0]?

Thanks!

#97

Thanks @dejavux2! I have added “Beach Hazard Statement” to the Wiki.
(the other dataPoints were already listed)

I am not sure it matters really. I believe [0] is the first alert, and [1] is the second alert for the same time period. The important thing is for us to gather data that is not listed on the Wiki.

For what it’s worth, I believe we can never have too much data, LOL.
(notice all the question marks next to the Beach Hazard)

This can be prevented in the future if there was a testing piston capturing all of $twcweather.alerts. It lets us see the relationship between dataPoints. (but again, I am grateful for any contributions)

Pro Tip:
If you don’t want the testing piston to send a SMS, you can delete that single line. The dataPoints will still be stored in the log. It makes for an easy copy/paste to this thread.

Does this help?

#99

Yes, very much… Thank you!

Your data has been added to the Wiki.

Edit:
I am definitely seeing even more patterns.
For example, “productIdentifier:CFW” appears with any of the following alerts:

  • Beach Hazard Statement
  • Coastal Flood Statement
  • Rip Tide Statement

Edit May 2020:

We now know that CFW stands for Coastal Flood Watch or Warning

Good…glad to help.

I live near Lake Erie, so we get a lot of alerts like those.
