Amazon Delivery + Door Motion Detector = "Your order has been delivered" Possible?

#1

1) Give a description of the problem
Just wondering if there’s any way to get ST/WC to determine if there’s an incoming Amazon delivery.

2) What is the expected behaviour?
Normal Front Door Motion Detector Message = “There’s motion at the Front Door”
Motion Detector Message if (AmazonDeliverySwitch=On) = “Your Amazon delivery is here”

This is not a biggie, but I thought it would be funny if I could get Alexa to do this.

or install the Amazon app and enable notifications… you will receive a notification that the package is a certain # of stops away (Amazon Deliveries only) and allow you to watch the progress on a map. A notification will be sent when the package has been delivered.

Oh, I have that. I just wanted my motion detector to notify me as soon as they were at the door so I’m not constantly checking my phone. Sometimes the notification doesn’t come for several minutes, and I don’t want anything expensive stolen. It’s probably not possible, but I thought I’d ask.

Thinking outside-the-box here…

If you have Android, Tasker can monitor notifications that a package is due in that day… and can trigger a piston that can flip a SimSwitch… Then, if porch motion is active, and that SimSwitch is on, then do whatever…

Maybe alert you by turning a (centrally located) bulb UPS brown?

The trick is, many outdoor motion sensors will trigger when the wind blows, or a cloud passes over… (perhaps the sensor is too sensitive or installed near the waving branches of a tree, etc) If your sensor does not have false alarms in the daytime, this could work nicely as a quick alert.

Another possible solution is to install some kind of “box” on your porch, and tell Amazon to place packages inside the box. (a bench with a lift-up seat?) This way, you can install a sensor inside the box, and have zero false alarms. (I have a similar device installed at the very back of my mailbox… So I know whenever it is opened)

It’s a Z-wave Plus Motion Detector (PIRZWAVE2.5-ECO). Very few false alarms.

I guess I could create a trigger as well…“Alexa, Look for delivery” to flip the switch and prime the piston. I don’t get a lot of visitors, so I wouldn’t have to worry about someone else tripping the alarm (I could have it ignore family members going in and out).
