The way I would do it is this:
- Make a simulated switch called “Guests”
- Tell ‘Motion piston’ to only do stuff if “Guests” switch is off
- Turn on “Guest” switch when company comes over
You could embellish it a bit by making “Guests” turn back off automatically after X minutes (or at bedtime etc) in case you forget.
If you have an Amazon Alexa, you can also say, “Alexa, turn on guests” when they arrive, and “Turn off guests” when they leave to return it to normal usage.
I will admit, the look on your guest’s faces are priceless when they hear you say, “Alexa, turn on guests”…
I guess if you wanted to tone it down you could always call the simulated switch “Guests Mode” instead… but that’s not nearly as fun, hehe
