Any way to turn off ring motion without turning it off in the app?

When I have guests or someone coming to the house that are constantly coming in and out of the door my ring motion keeps going off and setting off all my devices.

Looking to see if there’s a way with webcor to ignore motion even if it’s setting in the Ring app.

The way I would do it is this:

  1. Make a simulated switch called “Guests”
  2. Tell ‘Motion piston’ to only do stuff if “Guests” switch is off
  3. Turn on “Guest” switch when company comes over

You could embellish it a bit by making “Guests” turn back off automatically after X minutes (or at bedtime etc) in case you forget.

If you have an Amazon Alexa, you can also say, “Alexa, turn on guests” when they arrive, and “Turn off guests” when they leave to return it to normal usage.

I will admit, the look on your guest’s faces are priceless when they hear you say, “Alexa, turn on guests”…

I guess if you wanted to tone it down you could always call the simulated switch “Guests Mode” instead… but that’s not nearly as fun, hehe

Wouldn’t I have to turn off motion in the Ring app though

Oh yes… My logic above assumes that all the actions are done using webCoRE… not the original app. Just turn off the app 24/7, and let webCoRE manage and alert you. (at least, this is how I would do it)
