Arlo camera as motion sensor

#1

Hi Guys,

Right now, I was using a motion sensor (multi sensor) for my good morning routine (open light, unlock door, change SHM, and more)

I just bought 1 arlo pro camera, integrated with ST for setting his modes.

I tried replacing my multisensor with the Arlo for the motion activating but it didn’t work

Is that something we can do? Otherwise I will retry and set the debug to FULL

thanks

Go into your Arlo app and make sure the camera is enabled (obvious, I know…)
Also, check what mode you have and make sure that the “Motion is detected” box is checked.

Mine record on motion, but I haven’t tried to use that motion event as a trigger for other things within webcore.

I used to use my Arlos for motion events in ST (lights, etc) until I got a couple RING devices and moved the arlos around …

All the motion sensors in this are Arlo devices … I have it set to record if certian things open (the capture events) and then I use them as motion sensors to turn on lights

I did notice it was not the speediest but it did work when I had it running

Arlo cameras will definitely work as motion detectors to use in your piston. Just like John stated, I use the motion triggers from my Arlo cameras to turn on certain lights at night if motion is detected outside.

Just make sure that you authorize webcore to use the Arlo cameras as motion detectors. Once you do that, they will be available from the list of devices you can use in webcore.

Does this also work for D-Link cameras? I would like to use its motion detect capability but have not figured out how to do that.

Still not able to make it work with the active trigger

I think it’s because ST manage the camera modes
I checked the ST mode in arlo app, I saw : when motion or sound detected, don’t do anything, sent push notification

So I think ST manage the Capture when the SHM is armed.

Do you think I should disable the camera in SHM and use the Arlo with webcore insteat to manage motion depending on the SHM mode ?

thanks

To be honest - I do not use SHM nor do I use Arlo’s ST modes … perhaps thats why I was able to work when I used it … or perhaps smething changed in ST/Arlo to stop it?

I agree with John. I do not use the ST mode setup within the Arlo app. I leave my mode always set to armed which is why I’m always able to get motion triggers from the cameras.

Was able to make it work,

had to change the smartthings mode in Arlo app.

When it detect motion or sound, it was : don’t do anything. I set this to : Record

So now it record anytime, even if SHM is not in arm mode, but the motion sensor is working properly

case close, thanks!

Honestly - I have had a LOT of issues using the ST Mode in Arlo - you are much better off creating a custom Arlo mode
