Changing Arlo custom modes

#1

Is it possible to create a piston that will log into my Arlo account and change my custom modes, not arm and disarm, that is already available? I would imagine it would have to be doing it via the web, because Arlo currently only allows third parties to arm or disarm the entire system. I’ve created a virtual switch in smartthings to toggle a couple of cameras on and off as a work around, but my end goal is to use Google and IFTTT as the trigger to change custom modes when I let my dog out back, that way my motion sensors are still active controlling my flood lights, but not continuously recording as my dog poops, pees and chases squirrels around.

Nope. You can’t even arm or disarm. I use stringify for that

The way that I do it is I tie it to the state of who’s home and the time of day and I don’t use the Arlo custom modes at all.

So basically my cameras will turn on under certain conditions or start recording with the motion sensor under certain conditions if I don’t want them on I have them turn off for a period of time. It really depends on where the camera is in my house and what its role is

I do that as a work around already, and turn my cameras off. But when I let my dog out at night, I’d like my motion detection of my Arlo to trigger my flood lights and that’s not possible with the camera turned off.

I’m not sure about any pistons changing modes, but will say that I’m loving this smartapp. You can change Arlo modes based on SHM status, location mode or device events such as motion, button presses or switches being turned on or off.

Yes I’ve been using that myself, although I let Arlo stay in control, that 5-7 second delay from motion detected to recording started is unacceptable.
