Clicking create piston doesn't do anything

#1

Hi all, I’ve just purchased a smart things hub v3 and followed the instructions here (https://www.iottechtrends.com/get-started-with-smartthings-webcore/) to install webcore.

I managed to install it okay and when I go to dashboard.webcore.co, I keep getting a banner notification saying “There was a problem loading your devices. The data shown below may be outdated; please refresh the page to try again.”.

I did that many times, also tried different browser, still the same. I also tried clearing the cache via the ST app, doesn’t seem to change that.

I then ignored the error message and went on to Create a new piston -> Create a blank piston -> typed in the Author name and click on Create. It doesn’t seem to anything and the create a new blank piston is still there.

Anything that I’ve done wrongly?

That article provided you with an incorrect URL to login to IDE. It should be https://account.SmartThings.com

Do you see webcore in your ST app and did you successfully create an instance for it?

#3

Yeah, I successfully created the instance and I was able to see:

Dashboard
Register a browser
Settings

When I click into dashboard I see the error mentioned in the earlier post and even if I tried it with a web browser I see the same error as well.

Oh something worth mentioning is that I only checked the last one, should that be all 4?

#5

Yes, you need all 4 Smartapps installed in IDE and published. The webcore smartapp needs OAuth set to true.

#6

yeah I have the OAuth enabled, just didn’t know why the article told me to only select the last one in the list which is odd.

Seems to be okay now.

It has been a while since I installed webCoRE, but I seem to remember that the webCoRE SmartApp was supposed to be installed first, and then followed by the other three.
