Creating Routine or SHM with WebCore

#1

1) Give a description of the problem
I am having issues getting started on building out a security system for my doors and sirens.

2) What is the expected behaviour?
I would like to be able to “Arm/Away” or Arm/Stay" whether that is through the SHM or a routine, but be able to use webcore to include alerts from Alexa

Ex: We go to bed, I “Arm/Stay” If the Front Door/Garage Door/Patio Door is open then Alexa speaks that intrustion detected, please leave the premesis. 30 Seconds later the Sirens fire off.

I was able to create a Virtual Switch to test Alexa Speaking and then the Sirens going off, which works, so I’m ok there.

What I’m wondering is when I move to the new app, would it be better to create it in there, or create it in the old App.

I also don’t mind using a Routine to do this, just trying to figure out where to start, if I want to set it up with which app and if I should use a SHM or a Routine.

Just need some help getting started, I’m getting better with webcore, so just curious what you guys use to “arm alarm”

So I’m close I think only issue is when I disarm the alarm in SHM, the alarm sometimes keeps going.

Anyone have a thought on what I might be missing?

I don’t have an answer to your question Bill but everytime i see a security related question i’d say this;
please don’t trust on WebCore and/or ST app for security.
The technology is great but it’s still very primitive.
Smart homes are still a toy.
use wired dependable security systems.

I’m sorry, i don’t mean to be nosy, just sharing my experience.

Well and that’s a fair comment, however having a siren “possibly” go off is better than nothing in my opinion. I’m not expecting it to be Fort Knox and depend on it 100%. But there’s also an opportunity to utilize the technology that one currently has. In no way am I expecting it to be as good as a wired system. But appreciate the thoughts either way!

The Classic app is in the process of being phased out. Probably only a matter of months before it is turned off. My advice is to not waste time on SHM in the Classic app at this point. Focus on the new app and make your life easier. With that said, webcore can not manage STHM directly in the new app as you could with ShM in the Classic. You may want to consider a combination of webcore to manage location mode and automations for STHM.

Thanks, that’s helpful! I have been starting to move over to the new app, as many have said it’s def. a learning curve from the classic. But…technology changes. Thanks for your input!
