Entry/Foyer Light Piston

#1

My front foyer is a bit dark, so we usually need to turn on the light when putting on shoes and preparing to leave the house. The problem is, my kids often forget to turn out the light on their way out the door. So, I threw together a simple piston that checks if the light is switched on. If it is, wait 1 minute (plenty of time for putting on shoes and coats and grabbing keys) and then turn the light off. A motion sensor would probably be a more elegant solution, but we don’t mind having to flip a switch to turn on the light as long as it’s off again after we leave.

Simple is beautiful.
Made one extending this one if you use a fibaro dimmer with scenes. 1, 5 and 10 minutes.

I like it! I haven’t gotten to the motion sensor stage yet — have to build this home automation stuff gradually, or there goes my entire paycheck.

Gearbest.com
Look at Xiaomi sensors. They’re a pain in the ass to pair, but once you get them. They are rocksolid and they’re cheap as anything

Does it take anyone forever to get stuff from Gearbest? I ordered a couple of sensor to test 2 months ago and still nothing. The plan was to test and then make a bigger order, but man the wait sucks.

Yep

They have more than one of the same thing here. Do you know what the difference is besides the price? I’m guessing different versions, but I can’t really tell.
