Fade to Level Piston Help

#1

1) Give a description of the problem
I’m trying to get a piston setup that will fade my living room lights from 1% to 60% over time an hour before the sun sets. When this piston executes it turns the lights on to 60%, then down to 1% and back up to 60%. I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to get the lights to come on at 1% instead of their last state.

2) What is the expected behavior?
Lights turn on at 1% instead of the last state.

3) What is happening/not happening?
Lights are turning on at their last state, dropping down to 1%, then raising back up to 60%.

**4) Post a Green Snapshot

depends on your lights but most lights dont accept a set level command when they are off.

I’m using Hue bulbs. Any ideas for some type of automation that would set the level to 1% when turning them off? That way they would start at 1% when turning back on?

i dont use hues. have you tried setting the level while the bulb is off and check if that has any effect on the setting?

if the above does not work then the only option would be to modify the DTH to set level to 1% before turning off the light.

Doesn’t look like setting the level when the bulb is off does anything. :disappointed:

I do something similar so part of my goodnight routine is to set the bulbs to 25% and then turn off. Now, when sunset comes the next day the bulbs start at 25%.
