In each different time period the motion senser will turn on the light but will not turn off the light after the wait period. What have I done wrong

Click the with and then the cog icon, in the Task Cancellation Policy, set it to Never.
The reason for that is when the motion sensor goes inactive, the piston condition changes and cancels the timer which is why your light never turns off.
