Installation Woes

#1

Guys,

Anybody willing to help another user install WebCoRE?

I’ve tried numerous guides, such as https://wiki.webcore.co/GitHub_Install, but WebCoRE doesn’t show up as an option in the app after successful installation in the IDE. I’ve tried many guides on youtube, but most are years old and have nothing to say about the Classic app vs. the new app.

I’m a lifelong programmer and IT pro, so it just shouldn’t be this difficult to pull off. There is some simple issue blocking the process that I’m unable to see on my own.

I notice that step 1) of that guide suggests using ide.smartthings.com to access the IDE, but that redirects to graph.api.smartthings.com which only works for some users. It should really suggest account.smartthings.com. However since the instructions assume that GitHub integration has already been set up, I guess you may already be familiar with accessing the correct database shard. However the bottom line is that if you login via account.smartthings.com and go to My SmartApps in the menu (just SmartApps on smaller screens), you should see the four webCoRE apps there. If you don’t you might find they’ve been created in the incorrect place.

Installation with the ‘new app’ should just be a matter of hitting the ‘+’ sign on the home screen/dashboard, choosing SmartApp, and picking webCoRE from the list. The four webCoRE apps should appear in the My SmartApps section after the initial list of published apps. This should not be confused with clicking on the three horizontal line ‘hamburger’ menu and choosing SmartApps, as that is where it will appear when successfully installed and available for use.

Thank you. That was exactly it. I spent hour trying to figure out what was broken.

With the correct URL, everything installed and both new and old app are working. I appreciate your time.

Both GitHub and Manual installs in the Wiki have been updated now to the correct URL.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Side Note:

http always fails for me, so the link is to https

You may also go down to: Using webCoRE from another browser And edit #4 from webcore.co/re to dashboard.webcore.co

OK, I thought something was weird because I remember the installation instructions had account.smartthings.com.

How are there two different URLs?

Wiki @ https://wiki.webcore.co/ points to https://wiki.webcore.co/#GitHub_Installation_.28preferred_method.29 which is different from the one above. Where is it located? Hmmm
