Logging & Fuel Stream Questions

#1

Couple more webCoRE questions: are there ever times where you’d want to use other options to full for the logging? I’ve always set mine to either full or off.

Other question is regarding Fuel Streams (which I still cannot view) - what’s the difference between the data and data source options?

I use full logging when testing or when troubleshooting, then they usually get turned off. but any piston where I have a “Log to console” command I keep it set to “Minimal”. This is because if the log is set to none, and you edit the piston for any reason, the log is lost. Keeping it at minimum will preserve the log even after editing.

I see a lot of people logging to console but have never used that feature. May I ask what the benefit of it is?

For me, it helps in debugging and also when you want to follow the steps in the pistons. You log values before and after it is converted… just to keep your sanity if something doesn’t work out as you expected

Also would like to add… useful when mocking up a piston. Instead of actually sending an on/off to a switch, you do do a Log to console Turning ON switch

@eibyer You’re one of the minions around here - any idea on the data source part of my question regarding Fuel Streams?

Sorry, honestly have no idea. I’m not a heavy fuel stream user

In addition to what @eibyer said, I also like being able to use colors to help the important stuff stand out a bit. Here are the 5 colors available:
