Missing Virtual Devices

#1

I wasn’t sure if I should put this under the Meta category because I don’t know if it’s a bug or not. I have 3 pistons that turn the kitchen lights on and off based on motion. I put the sensor up and made the pistons about a week ago and they work perfectly. The problem is, the two virtual contact sensors that I created no longer show up in webcore, and they have been replaced in my pistons with a long string of letters and numbers that I am guessing must be some sort of device ID or something?

Anyone know what could have caused this, and is there an easy fix? I checked another unrelated piston and they do now show there either.

That long string usually indicates an old device ID that is no longer valid. Usually happens when copying a piston from one instance to another of webcore or something like that. Did you check your webcore app settings in ST to ensure those virtual contact sensors are available to this instance of webcore? As long as they are still showing in ST, you might just have to re-add them in the webcore Smartapp settings.

I looked at the smartapp after reading your post and it showed both of them so I saved it again but it’s still not showing up as a device. They had to be there last week when I wrote the pistons.

Interesting. I made a new piston and both switches were there so I stopped and went back and looked at the pistons in question, and now they’re back. Weird!

Thanks for the reply. No idea what could have caused that, but I’m glad to see they found their way home.
