1) Give a description of the problem
Hi everyone, Im slowing getting my head around this and things are going great but im struggling with a piston. I have a come home routine that turns on several lights depending on the time of day but i would like it to be more specific, especially with the changes in seasons. I would prefer for the lights to come on depending on daylight level. I have installed the device handler for the weather tile but am stuck from this point on what to do.

2) What is the expected behavior?
if it is getting dark / is dark lights come on, also what the values mean in this repect ie what should it be set at

3) What is happening/not happening?
i am struggling with what needs to go into the piston for the weather aspect

help is appreciated

thanks

Dave

I use
Illuminance
Is below.
10.
I use 10 as this is for a dedicated light sensor that I have as opposed to Weather.
I would monitor the weather app and when you want the lights to come on, have a look at the weather reading and use this value.

Is this what you are asking?

Hi.

Thanks for the response. Yes indeed but I don’t have a light sensor able to monitor the outide light levels so thought the weather dh could help. How do you monitor it?

Good idea on check monitoring. I’ll do over the next day or so unless you have any other suggestions?

I use a Fibaro Motion Sensor in a spare room that is rarely used. This way there is no light pollution from lights coming on and off.
Have a look round the forum for Lux sensors. There may be some cheaper ones available.
Make sure the one you pick is configurable to report in every, say, 5 minutes or on lux level change. The Xiaomi Lux sensor does not do this so keep away from them.
Phillips Hue Motion/Temp/Lux sensors can be connected directly to ST as well.
