Physically vs programatically

#1

What is the use case for physically changes versus programmatically changes? Anybody have an example?

I just installed my first G-E z wave three way switch. And I’m thinking I might have a use case but I’m not sure; for instance, if I turn it on physically at the switch have it Stay on until I physically turn it off. But if it turns on from a motion sensor, then have it automatically turn it off after 10 minutes. Is that something that’s doable?

Physically is when the switch is physically interacted upon… and programmatically is the opposite, commands/instructions comes from apps etc.

I don’t think it’s supported by all switches… I don’t rely on it since it’s not consistent.
