Pistons stopped firing

#1

My webcre pistons stopped firing today for some reason. for instance I have a piston that turns on two lamps when a wired ge zwave wall switch is turned on.

2) What is the expected behavior?
The lamps should turn on and off using the zwave wall switch

3) What is happening/not happening?
the lights are not turnign on and off with the wall switch. pressing the wall switch does nothing, and nothing is logged in webcore. liek its not triggerign the piston. I am able to turn the switch on and off from smart things and smartthings reports the correct status of the switch.

screenshot of my piston is attached.

keep in mind that none of my pistons are firing - this is just an example of one that is not working.

There is a way in the ST app to actually disable all pistons. I’d start there:

ST app > Automation > WC > Settings > Disable all pistons

And make sure that’s not the culprit.

#3

Thanks for the suggestion. I Checked and that setting is not turned on so I don’t think that’s it.

#4

Hmm… I don’t know then. That was my one suggestion. Hopefully some others will come along with some more insight.

But if it’s all pistons then I’d start looking at stuff which would affect things globally. Like the Auth token for instance. This is not my area of expertise though…

Tried rebooting your ST hub and router?

#6

yea - i tried that last night. unplugged the power cord on the ST hub, waited 10 seconds or so, plugged back in.

After the issue started, i logged into webcore via a web browser and it gave me a warning that there was an update available so I logged into th ST api page and went to my smart apps. then wen to update from repo > webcore (master).

After that i went into each of the webcore smaetapps listed and went to publish > for me.

the update warning went away but it did not seem to fix the issue.

its almost like ST is not communicating with webcore.

#7

im just not really sure how to go about troubleshooting this.

#8

You mentioned rebooting your ST hub, what about your router?

#9

as in my network router?

#10

Yes

#11

Sorry to ask some basic questions but did you ‘update from repo’ all 4 elements?
In live logging do you see the motion sensor go active?
Do you then see the piston produce a log in the ide and in the logs when turned on to full in the piston?
BTW if your batteries are installed you need to remove them as well when powering down. You probably know this but thought I’d mention it.

#12

Just tried to reboot router - didnt seem to help.

I did update from repo on all 4 elements

my hub is a v1 so I don’t think it has batteries.

the piston is triggered by a wired wall switch. when i turn the switch on or off I actually dont see anything in live logging and I do not see anythgin in the webcore ide logs.

I can go into my smartthings app and turn the switch on and off from the amartthings app and I can hear the switch clicking indicating that it is going on and off.

#13

If you toggle the switch and it is one of your connected devices, you should see it in live logging regardless of webCoRE.

#14

I’m having issues with control at the moment, live logging is idle… it might not be the best time to troubleshoot.

Edit: it seems to have recovered now

#15

hmm yea no events are registering in live logging at all - regardless fo web core.

#16

Sounds like your hub may be having issues.
I would contact support to see if they can see what is or is not happening.

Just found this.
Not sure if it is related to your issue.
