Probles with feedback piston

#1

Hello,

I just added webCoRE yesterday and am having some problems with a piston. Can you help? TIA!

Below is a snapshot of my piston. In this case the piston monitors my garage and closes it if it is left open(current times are for testing purposes only). The monitoring/executing aspect works as desired… I would like to get feedback from my piston and that isn’t going so well.

My second ‘if’ in the piston is the feedback portion. -After the top part of the piston has been performed I would like feedback. If the door closes successfully, I would like a ‘success’ notification. If it fails to close, I would like a ‘failure’ notification. I also want to pause the piston if it fails, but haven’t gotten there, yet.

What I am getting is lots of SMS notifications ‘Auto-Close Successful’ and a few ‘Auto-Close sequence FAILED’ notifications. Best guess is the motion sensor can trigger an SMS? I’m thinking that I get notifications even if the garage remains closed.

So, how do I build the bottom portion of my piston to only run if the piston is executed? TIA- Jim

here it is…

I’m on my phone so I can’t post a snapshot, but if you import piston code 3z7pw I have something like you’re trying to do.

35 seconds after the piston instructs the garage door to close, the last person to leave the house receives an SMS that the door failed to close. If a second command is unsuccessful, the SMS is sent again and says attempts to close will continue. Once the door closes correctly, a final SMS is sent saying the garage door successfully closed.

It has caught a couple instances where something blocking the door for closing is fixed before I get Fer away from the house.

On my PC now so I can post the piston. The problem you’re having with yours is the piston will send you an SMS any time your garage door is open for 25 seconds or longer - which probably includes every time you arrive home or leave.

The part that does what you want starts at line 122 in this snapshot:
