Samsung TV Problem

#1

Hello - Previously, my Samsung TV was working fine as a Thing for which I could detect if it was on or off. I have a piston that detects when it goes on and then runs a Harmony Activity. I also use it to shutoff the lights in that room after the TV goes off. But that is no longer working. The TV going on or off is no longer being recognized. When I look at the logs for the TV, when the TV becomes on, there is nothing in the Events List for the TV at the time of a power change. But in the logs, there are now these lines that I do not recall from before. I did try to Update the driver, and while it registered in the Events List, there has been no other change. Anyone have any idea what’s going on and how to fix it?

I talked to Samsung today, seems that they broke the SmartTV Thing connection to the SmartThings hub. They are working on a fix but unknown when it will be available. They also will not let you go back to a previous working version of TV s/w. So my solution for now (until they fix it) is to monitor the TV power with a power plug.

Try logging into your Samsung account from your TV (assuming you have the ST login tied in). I’ve been using that as a workaround and it works most of the time. For some reason, on occasion the on/off status won’t update… completely random and I haven’t been able to figure it out.
