SmartThings has a new beta feature out: Scenes! I joined the beta last night, and it seems to work well so far. Hopefully webcore will add support soon

What is the difference between creating a scene in the beta program versus making a piston to do the same thing?

My guess is that it is easier for less technical people to use the ST app. I’ll never use them. I had to migrate all my routines to webcore with momentary buttons. ST routines are not reliable, at least not for me.

Some people like to have the same interface to do what they need. Also, getting support from SmartThings is much easier if you’re only using their built in functionality. Some people aren’t great at troubleshooting their own environment.
