Smartthings new app and the new STHM

#1

If this is in the wrong place admins please feel free to move it, Sorry I am new here.

So I made the switch to the new app but had to use webcore to do it. (never used it before). Everyone is saying they can not get webcore to work with STHM and I had no problems with it. So I wanted to show what I did.

In the new smartthings app I made 3 automations, If (Night, Home or Away) change the security mode to the same. So I have one that states if mode is night then change security to night. Makes sense right?

Then in webcore in my Good night routine I made it so it sets the location mode to night. This then triggers my STHM to turn the security to night. My good morning changes it to Home etc.

This has been working flawlessly to have webcore work with the new smartthings app and the new STHM.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I already replied to your post on the ST forum. Technically, webcore is not managing STHM in the new app. You are using Automations to manage the state of STHM.

WebCoRE can only manage ST locations (home, day and night)

Sorry I guess I missed that in some of these messages new to webcore.

It is confusing. There are many ways to control STHM using webcore and using additional methods such as Automations (as you mentioned). Others are using a combination of virtual switches and webcore to change the STHM state.

There are many different methods and choice is good. There is no right way or wrong way. Find what works for you and use it.

I use a similar method that you use plus some additional webcore pistons that meet my needs

I think I jump on some folks in the ST forum for using the term —> they are using webcore to control STHM and they fail to mention they are using it with other means in the mix which is confusing.
