So why the new Forum?

#1

Just curious why the new forum was created and split off of Smart things Community?
Dont get me wrong, I think its a great idea, as WC and Core were just dominating things in that community.

#2

Too much volume of posting, too few threads and way to organize. Stuff has been asked and answered over and over and gets missed with 40-50 posts per day in the thread(s).
We asked Tim to break out a separate main category for WC and he didn’t want to. Hence the new community.

I’ve seen his response and this was a sad day. ST should be throwing money at @ady624 and embracing each and every WC user. The community make their platform relevant, let’s just hope they keep it that way. This kind of reaction seems a bit shortsighted from my chair.

All that being said, while I totally love this independent board, I would have loved to see more openness from ST and a more united community, as a whole.

#4

That was the original goal, this is only a reaction to that unwillingness to make more of a home for webcore in the official SmartThings forum and ecosystem

#5

For webCoRE, the sky is the limit. ST is just ONE cloud! There may be other clouds coming together in the future, who knows what @ady624 has in the goodie bag for us…

#7

Hey @Benji, welcome! Glad you made it …

#8

Careful now, ST is still the underlying platform, don’t throw your hub just yet lol

#10

Precisely. Just yet.

We need ipv6/Z protocol gateways, then we’re set. Care to comment?

#11

You know you’re killing us with that Frankenstein profile…

#12

Careful, or I will have to assume elements of your identities.

I just need to figure out where to pack them away at, I am almost at capacity.

I’m down for a Kickstarter campaign
