Very very Newbie Help?

#1

Hello all, I’m really very new to the ST environment, I bought my Hub Monday and I’ve been trying to figure out the full abilities, and yesterday progressed to core and then last night removed all of the core pistons and migrated them to webcore. So I’m really kind of lost, I’ve got webcore enabled and working but I came across the presence tiles in the samples page on the wiki and I don’t understand where they should be, or how to make them work.
(using the presence piston v78tz on this page: https://wiki.webcore.co/Samples )

If I understand that sample right, once I add the assorted phones I want to know the presence of, and put them in a “tiles” category, they should show up on the webCoRE page with all of my pistons, and I should see a tile for each presence sensor?

I’m seeing this:

This is the piston I’m using:

Additionally I see the extra presence sensor variables declared, but not being used, and I can’t figure out how to make them go away.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: It looks like I just needed to change presence status on a device for the tile to show up:

Now I’m seeing the extra variables from the original piston I copied, but didn’t use. Any idea how to make that go away? I can’t seem to directly edit the piston. I’m probably missing something though.

nice going in a week!

open the piston in edit mode. click on the peoplePhones variables, then deselect all and select the 3 presence sensors you want to use. that will cleanup the extra phones.

click on the tileTextHome and change the value to this:

didnt do a line by line comparison, did you change any other variable or task? if so, please revert it.

better option might be to delete this piston. restore it again using the orange button and the v78tz code. then include the 3 presence sensors and the 3 names. then click on the peoplePhones variables, deselect all and then select the 3 presence sensors you want to use. that will cleanup the extra phones.

once you are viewing the piston, edit button is at the bottom left of the piston:
