Voices within Webcore?

I’m surprised that within webcore I cant “speak text” with a custom voice / accent. I’d really like to keep my announcements within the pistons they are related to instead of breaking them out into another smartapp - it also allows me to adjust the level after the announcement so I don’t get blasted afterwards with resuming music. Also BigTalker2 is very unreliable with Sonos.

I think the logic is that webCoRE can send (nearly) any command, but there has to be some kind of programming at the other end to control the actual speaker.

I may be a bit biased, but I have had great success with this method.
(for your case, you can ignore the parts about Alexa, unless you have one)

This method takes about a half hour to setup initially, and does require programming outside of webCoRE for the basic functionality (what voice / dialect to use etc). BUT, once it is set up, all coding is done in webCoRE, and any piston can add a single line to be spoken out loud.

The spoken text can be a short phrase, or a complex phrase with multiple variables such as:

“The time is 4:00 P.M . It’s 79 degrees and Partly Cloudy outdoors.
Tonight’s low is 50 degrees. It is a comfortable 73 degrees inside.”
