Water Softener Brine Tank Salt Level Detector

I need to detect the salt rock level in the brine tank of my water softener.
You pour 40lb bags of salt rocks into the tank, and over time they are dissolved when used to backwash the water softener.
The tank is just a plastic tub or tank the size of a outdoor garbage can.
It has a hose inlet, and a tube inside affixed to the side.

Clever! I bookmarked this post in case my “2 bags every 40 days” schedule becomes insufficient.

For bonus points, rather than buying special iron fighter salt just add 1/4 cup Iron Out powder along with each bag of regular salt.
