Webcore and all pistons are gone/disappeared

#1

1) Give a description of the problem
I repurposed a smart outlet so I went into webcore on the ST app to pause a piston that was doing stuff with that outlet. After pausing the piston, there was some error that came up. I can’t remember exactly what it said, but it was DEFINITELY nothing like “your entire webcore existence will disappear and will never be seen again”. The error was something more like “this cannot be completed at this time”. I was in a hurry and just next/close/done 'd my way out of the app.
5 minutes later I notice a light doesn’t turn on by motion which is controlled by a different webcore piston. I go into the ST app>SmartApps and look for “Webcore” at the bottom of the list… Not there. … Hmm, that’s interesting.
I go to the laptop and get to my webcore dashboard through the browser. Yep still there. I notice the piston I paused earlier is still running. Well, that makes sense, there was some sort of error. I better pause it via the browser. I go in the piston, pause it, and it says “the data shown may be outdated, please log out if this problem persists”.
Hmm, interesting. Well, let’s do exactly what it is telling me to do. Log out and log back in. So I log out of the browser.
Then when I try to log back in, it asks for the registration code from the smartapp.
BUT, there is no smartapp. It disappeared. So I can’t log in to the browser.
OK, this webcore smartapp has got to still be in the phone somewhere… So I go to the ST app >SmartApps> + button (add smartapp) scroll all the way down, there it is, “webCoRE, tap here to install…” Then it warns “If you have previously installed webcore and are trying to open, go back to automations/smartapps and access that way. If you are trying to install another instance, then continue…”. Well, like I said, webcore isn’t installed in smartapps any more (somehow), so let’s try this new instance method and see what we can figure out that way.
I install new Webcore (call it Webcore K). But as you might imagine, there are no pistons, it’s completely empty, like a brand new instance of webcore “it’s kinda lonely in here, how bout creating a piston”. So now, in the STapp>smartapps, I only have listed: [Ecobee suite, smart lighting, virtual device creator, and Webcore K]. Note, Webcore K is not Webcore. I want my original “Webcore”, the one with all my pistons in it.

So this is where I’m at… My original Webcore smartapp has completely disappeared and I can’t figure out how to get it back. I (stupidly) have not backed up any of my pistons (~10 active, + 12paused). Can anyone help me get my pistons back?

For future reference, the correct way to “Pause” a piston is thru the web interface at:
dashboard.webcore.co. (using the the three dots on the far right)

Alternatively, you can view the piston from the dashboard, and then click on Pause:

Can you post a screenshot of where you were doing this? It has me confused. Maybe we can figure out the issue if we start at the beginning. I know you lost the original instance but perhaps through the new instance you created, you can show us.

Thanks for the help! Here is a picture of where I clicked on the piston pause button in the app.

I didn’t think webcore worked in the new app. I never really do anything in the app, new or classic, other than registering a browser and I always do that from the classic.

Other than using the new app I see nothing wrong with what you did.

I will say I have been having some issues with webcore the last two days myself. I have been getting a message quite often about the data below may be outdated refresh the page, or something about logging out.

The dashboard would take an excessively long time to load. At one point I logged out and deleted my cached data as I read somewhere that was a fix, but after that I never could get my Hubitat instance to load back up, and the smartthings instance was constantly giving me errors.

It seems better right now though. All seems to be working again.

So I am still not able to see the old instance of Webcore.
But I did remember that I have an active dashboard login on my work desktop computer. So I am able to open the webpage and see the list of pistons. YAY, they still exist somewhere on the internet. However, when I click on a piston, it just gives me the webcore loading circle spinning. So I reload the page and see the list of pistons again, and there’s a “backup pistons” button on the left. I try to click that, and it says:

"an error has occurred while retrieving backup…
please navigate to each installed instance before attempting to backup to ensure you have a fresh list of existing pistons and that the security tokens are not expired, then try again. "

I’ve seen the other thread about expired tokens. Perhaps I could try something like that?
(I don’t mind having a new instance of webcore. Just as long as I can export/import my existing pistons. It would make it way easier than having to recode all the pistons from scratch.)

Is there anyone that could weigh in and let me know if there is anything I can do to get my pistons? It would be much appreciated.

I don’t know much about this, but perhaps you could try copying an existing piston to a new name and see if that works?

SmartThings support is not able to restore deleted smart apps, so if they were not backed up to webCoRE backup bins they might not be recoverable. However, let’s make sure they are truly gone.

  1. Go to account.smartthings.com > My Locations > smartapps
  2. Look for webCoRE or any of your pistons

Normally there is a webCoRE at the top level and all pistons are nested under that. If you see any of the pistons there it may be possible to restore them. If you don’t see any there, is it possible that they were on a different account like a SmartThings rather than Samsung account?
