I installed the webcore presence component and it seems to be working fine for me but, there’s always a but

1. Does this mean I still need to have ST running in the background?
2. I have all my automation done through webcore?
3. Since the webcore presence added another iPhone presence sensor should I delete the one that is there from when ST was first setup?

No, you do not need to have ST running in the background. Presence is determined by the webCoRE presence sensor.

Yes, for presence automation you would need to use webCoRE.

You can delete that presence sensor if you’re not going to use it with any non-webCoRE presence automations.

Yes, for presence automation you would need to use webCoRE.

The webCoRE Presence Sensor (or more accurately the simulated device it places in your ST things list) can be used by any smartapp, not just webCoRE.

That that said, right now other smartapps can only make use of the present / away states, not all the other attributes such as speed, direction, distance etc… but that’s only because other smartapps aren’t setup to look for the custom attributes.
