Webcore server on Raspberry Pi for dummies?

#1

I just purchased a Raspberry Pi. I would like to use it do host the WebCoRE dashboard locally for my Hubitat. However I have never used Linux. Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to set this up?

Never mind – I found this: https://community.hubitat.com/t/patched-webcore-for-hubitat-2018-04-10/1165/90?u=ajayjohnm

Is it required to host a local server for the WebCoRE dashboard? Or can it also function nonlocally with Hubitat?

#5

It is not required to run the UI locally, some users just prefer the guarantee of it being available in case webcore.co suddenly gets tightened up to serve ST only.

#6

That’s good to know I could skip that step if I want. Pistons still run locally, right? It’s only the dashboard that’s dependent on the cloud?

#7

Yes, for piston editing and such.

#8

On HE. yes.
On ST, no.

Hubi-what?

Why am I just hearing about this? I’m invested in ST, but I’m getting sick of Samsung making things garbage that worked fine before. Please tell me though, it’s not PHP. For the love of all that is good, why do people still use that stinking language?
