What is the cheapest speaker that works with Webcore?

#1

I recently bought the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum. I highly recommend it, however, it has no integration with Smartthings whatsoever. It does have Amazon Echo integration and I’m not above running a piston that speaks to Alexa to turn the thing on/off.

Anyone have any recommendations on speakers? This is literally all I would use this for, a piston that makes the speaker speak “Alexa, turn on/off the robot vacuum.”

Thank you for your help!

You can check out the fabriq speaker on amazon. Normally $50 but a few times per year the price drops to $30. You track track it with one of the amazon tracker sites if you want to wait

If you go to https://community.smartthings.com and do a search on dnla, there is a thread with a list of speakers that work.

Any deals on the xiaomi?

Regarding the fabriq, you might want to research the use with webcore as some are having trouble with it. I have two that I have not set up so this might be a good time to try it.

I didn’t buy it on a deal. I got it at it’s normal ~$400 price point. It is still worth it!

Ah, got it. I do have a lower end model roomba over a year old and I think it needs help keeping up with the dog!

samsung r1’s are $49 right now…

Where did you find them for $50? It’s my understanding that are usually triple that!

I’m using a Fire HD 8 tablet running LANnoucer. I bought a refurbished unit on Amazon for $33.00. I was going to connect it to a BT speaker but the speaker in the tablet is more than loud enough. As a bonus, I can run ActionTiles on it.

That would be perfect! I have an old TAB 3 laying around, maybe I’ll try to recondition it. What do you use to play the voice?

I’m using LANnouncer. I installed the Google Play Store APKs using instructions I found on forum.xda-developers.com1 and then was able to install LANnouncer. I own a couple of Fabriqs but couldn’t get them to work reliably. LANnouncer has been rock solid.

The d-link media[D-Link DCH-M225 Wi-Fi Audio Extender https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KGGHYWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GQEPAbBAVV4ZD](D-Link DCH-M225 Wi-Fi Audio Extender httpemphasized texts://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KGGHYWK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_GQEPAbBAVV4ZD)

I have 2 of these with dumb (but incredible sound quality)onyx speakers, they are also range extenders for wifi, its not great for repeating but it helped a few lifx bulbs outside stop from dropping out every 20 minutes. Theres a dnla player smart app and dth so you csn use smartthings for music controll. Youll need to set up a dnla server, anything can run one. I use a raspberry pi3 behind my tv for it so i dont need my laptop open. It mimics the sonos sonos Is 100 times easier to use at first)without the added price tag.
