WiFi Issues, help appreciated

wifi
router

Just wondering if anyone can help…

Up until beginning of August not had any issues regarding wifi within the house. Since then I have had major issues with my Harmony Hub, Echo and a Lifx bulb constantly disconnecting from wifi.

My VDSL modem/router had a software update on 5th August, and problems seem to coincide with this, however cannot be certain.

Have tried using network utility on macbook to scan for best channels and changed channels to the recommended ones, numerous reboots of all devices etc etc.

Its only these 3 devices which are affected and all connect on the 2.4ghz band, my 5ghz is unsynced.

My ISP suggested unsynching the bands, but i had already done that and they seem to think a new router from them won’t make any difference.

Is there anything obvious I’m missing…my next plan is to buy my own modem/router and ditch the ISP supplied one

I’d pickup a router.
Disable gateway in modem, so just act as modem.
Plug in new router. Give it 2 weeks. If it works, you can get a new one from provider at that point and return the new one you bought. Or just keep it.

This honestly sounds like a hardware and/or interference problem, and you seem to have done a fair amount to limit likeliness of interference

Had all kinds of problems with harmony and not at least chromecast when the wl access point firmware “wants to secure my network”

Running a older firmware on my ASUS now with little to none problems.
I used to have pro wl mesh at home “Aruba” but had to give up due to broadcast on layer two not getting out like it should.
Therefore i ended up with a ASUS, and found a firmware with a propper way to disable local firewall stuff.

So I agree with @Cozdabuch
or.
Get a wl router, Creating a wireless lan on it.
Disable dhcp on the new router.
Plug one of the lan ports to your existing router.
Move stuff to this WL network and see if it helps.
If it does, call your vendor, and tell them to quit playing security device providers.
