Disable sensors temporaily

#1

Here is a request that would be nice, don’t know if webcore capable or needs to be on smartthings end.

Suggestion: the ability to override a sensor or device globally. So that pistons won’t check them if they are “disabled”

Usage ideas: if you are monitoring your home and want to leave a door/window available to be left open for a period of time it will stop checking that sensor while it is disabled. Then when you re enable it monitors it again. This could be used for motion sensors, door sensors, temperature sensors. Etc.

By doing this, the piston would not have to be rewritten or adapted for a one off situation.

Basically turn off or on zones as needed…

I just use a virtual switch as an override to pistons. If VS switch is ON, pistons don’t do anything.

You could probably add a bypass logic too, where when you toggle the VS switch, it check for opened zones and add them to unmonitored devices (using devices list variable) or the other way around… it check for closed devices, set the variable accordingly and monitor only those zones while Vswitch is on.

When your turn off VS, make it default back to your entire list of devices.
