Migrating to new instance: what to keep in mind?

#1

Hi,

Since I started coding my first WebCoRE piston 6-8 months ago, my coding skills increased to a point where I want to revisit all of my pistons in order to optimize them and reduce redundant triggers.

Having like 50 pistons, I think the best strategy would be to move pistons one by one to a new instance, making sure everything in the new instance is optimized and tested to work.

What should I keep in mind if I elect to go down that road? Is there any drawbacks of having the same devices linked to both instance. What about presence sensor or IFTTT webhooks?

Is phasing out an instance even a good idea?

Thanks for you advices.

I can’t offer up much advice but I can tell you that I have two instances. My main setup and then a testing setup. They both share all the same devices aside from testing having several more virtual devices included. I have had no problems with them sharing devices except when I forget to pause a testing piston that controls actual devices.

I can only assume you will have to reset all your web hooks or anything else on the outside.

Is it just me or the move piston option is not working yet. I get an error message.
