No big news here; just another noob blabbing while finding my way…
Thanks to the developers and all the community members for all the work and testing that has gone into webCoRE.
I have been a long-time Rule Machine user. Then, I switched over to using CoRE when it came out, but then sort of went back to using Rule Machine when the ‘too many Pistons’ problem showed up in CoRE.
Well, I finally got around to working in webCoRE a few weeks ago or so, and with some recent vacation time, I was able to focus on it a bit more. I now have all of my Rule Machine rules, and CoRE Pistons (from multiple instances of CoRE) fully migrated to my single instance of webCoRE.
In many places, I was able to merge several Rule Machine rules and/or CoRE Pistons into a single webCoRE Piston. Where appropriate, I left some separated, and tried to only merge the ones that seemed to make sense being combined.
Beyond that, since it is so capable, I have also migrated at least a couple purpose-built SmartApps (including a custom-built SmartApp that did things that no pre-existing SmartApp could do for me) into webCoRE as well.
So far, I have about 60 Pistons, but I realize I’ve barely touched the surface of this thing. Mainly, I just have what I’m assuming are simple Pistons (i.e. mostly just combinations of conditions, triggers, and timers). A small number are using variables. A couple use capturing/restoring. Maybe one or two have expressions.
I am very, very happy with the extent to which I’ve managed to wade in so far.
My current free-time window is closing, but hopefully sometime in the next couple months I’ll have some time to get back to this. I look forward to getting a better understanding of variables, functions, and expressions.
Well, thanks again, All.
