Side Note:

Interesting observation about eventTrackingNumber and eventDescription…

The data above came from two different users, in two separate countries, six months apart.
The sequential numbers makes it look like each number represents a weather effect…

… but when we look at some of the lower numbers, that pattern does not exist.

Note to self:

So far, multiple eventDescriptions have been seen for eventTrackingNumbers:
0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, 0005, 0015, 0024, 0030.
(although I only searched 0000 - 0080)

Got a new alert for Coastal Flood Watch. Looks like event tracking number 0010 is also for Rip Tide Statement and 1009 is also for Tropical Storm Warning. Not much else I could find that isnt already documented in the WiKi

I am probably a bit early, but in case I forget…

This Winter we should pay close attention to any of the elusive “Flood” alerts.
(IE: floodImmediateCause has a lot of cold related events that we’ve never seen yet)

Edit:

@Pantheon, does your piston ignore Flood events if that eventDescription has already been seen?
(if so, perhaps adding another condition to SMS all Flood alerts might be real helpful)

For reference:

Out of 100+ alerts, this is the only Flood data people have sent in so far…

Note to self: So far, all productIdentifier that start with the letter F, are related to floods.
(perhaps this should be the condition for a forced SMS?)

Yes. If the eventDescription has already been logged to the list above, the event is ignored. I will make a modification as you have suggested and post the updated piston. Should we consider something like this for ALL alerts and not just Flood events?

Here is the UNTESTED, updated piston. We may be able to remove the “Flood” condition at line 64 and just check the productIdentifier for “F”. Testing will tell. Comments welcome.
